Rape accusations have always been present very late in the lives of celebrities with the excuse of "I was afraid no one would believe me 30 years ago" applied liberally. You would have to pay absolutely no attention to the news not to be aware of this, though a lot of people willingly suspend their disbelief in order to circlejerk over public outrage.
False accusations in general are becoming more common for all sorts of crimes. Presumed guilt has been epidemic for a long time and it's continuing to get worse. In a lot of cases people are accused of things which are not even crimes, or something they have done and don't deny is called a crime even when it is not. You could be drugged and gang raped by 15 guys, shot, and left to die in a ditch and one of their girlfriends would accuse you of raping her and you would be instantly and entirely blamed for what happened to you. If that blew over, you would be publicly accused of secretly wanting either of the two parties and politicians or "culture critics" would attack you for "not coming out as a homosexual and helping the cause," regardless of if you were or weren't.
It is an effective way to make a LOT of money from sympathy donations from random people or even corporations, political groups, and governments. You will be treated better than anyone else for the rest of your life and anyone who criticizes you for the rest of your life will be shouted down by the people around you. It is also an effective way to sweep anything you want under the rug and leave it there permanently. If you are ever questioned, the same thing happens.
If you choose to believe some famous guy raped a bunch of girls, that's up to you, but you probably don't know anything about the situation and your opinions are probably second-hand. Cosby isn't Zaush and the situations are dissimilar. I won't say that this is a bad place to talk about this and that you should never talk about anything off-topic, but this really doesn't really seem like a conversation that people should be having expecting anything meaningful. Anyone being nice will be too nice to say anything too out-there and eventually someone will show up and get offended and ruin everyone's day. To be clear, I mean the Cosby stuff will lead down this path. The Zaush stuff I don't think will upset people too badly.
