Actually, I find this very in character. Kevin is generous, but he doesn't like the way Brent treats people. But I can see Brent being a total closet case. And we already know Kevin is gay or bi, just not with Brent. Kevin's too good for him. In the main comic, Kevin has a crush on the Pigsdys, especially Virgil, and mistakenly thought he'd been invited to join the polycule.
